The Sensory-Enhanced Yoga Institute is excited to announce its new 11- Week Webinar Workshop:

Sensory-Enhanced, Mindfulness-based Yoga for Learning Environments (S.M.Y.L.E.)

This 2- Part webinar workshop series is especially designed for elementary and middle-school teachers, special needs teachers, occupational therapists, other allied and licensed mental health professionals, yoga therapists and yoga instructors who would like to learn how to incorporate Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® into the classroom and general school setting to help students manage symptoms of trauma, toxic stress, anxiety, ADHD, and similar mental health conditions so they can maintain a calm and focused state of alertness conducive to learning. The course was co-created by Lynn Stoller, M.S. OTR/L, C-IAYT, RYT 500/E-RYT 200, YACEP, Megan Schofield, M.Ed., RYT, and Dr. Erin O’Neill, OTD, OTR/L RYT-200.

Part 1 will present the science/evidence base, theoretical model, and guidelines for practice through a child-focused lens. Though mostly lecture and discussion, a small sampling of yoga, breathing, and meditation techniques will be taught in short experiential labs.  Sessions will be recorded but live attendance (via Zoom) is strongly encouraged.

Part 2 will present evidence-based, trauma-informed practices that can be incorporated into particular activities and time points during the school day. Both mat and chair versions of the yoga forms and movements will be taught, along with child-friendly breathing and meditation practices. Participants will have opportunities to practice the techniques in pairs and small groups and will also collaborate on classroom design. This training program is highly experiential and includes a detailed manual. Yoga experience is not required. Live attendance (via Zoom, with participant video on) is required for all Part 2 sessions in order to receive credit.

You will find the bios for Megan Hennessey, Erin O’Neill and Lynn Stoller on our team page.

The Sensory-Enhanced Yoga Institute is a Registered Continuing Education Provider for the Massachusetts Department of Education (PD Provider #S20200018))
