SENSORY-ENHANCED YOGA® FOR SELF-REGULATION
2-Day Workshop for Yoga Instructors & Yoga Therapists:
Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® for Self-Regulation is designed especially for registered yoga instructors and certified yoga therapists who wish to incorporate evidence-based, trauma-sensitive yoga techniques into their yoga classes to help those who have high anxiety or have experienced trauma to better self-regulate their own nervous systems and energy levels to better meet life’s challenges. Certified yoga therapists will also be able to use the material presented in this course to address core issues of PTSD and promote healing from the condition. The 2-day workshop includes several paired teaching practices and a larger group experiential lab.
You Will Learn:
» How trauma may affect sensory processing and specific brain functions, along with the supporting evidence.
» How mindfulness-based practices, including yoga, may affect specific brain functions, along with the supporting evidence.
» How to utilize the Transdisciplinary Model for Post Traumatic Growth (© 2012 L. Stoller) as a roadmap to help your yoga students, especially those experiencing high anxiety or who have been traumatized, to feel more safe, calm, clear, uplifted, and empowered.
» The definition, purpose, and 5 guidelines of practice for Sensory-Enhanced Yoga®.
» How to incorporate specific yoga, breathing, and other mindfulness techniques of Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® into your yoga classes to help your students self-regulate their own nervous systems and energy levels to better meet life’s challenges.
Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® is closely informed by the highly successful treatment protocol used with deployed military personnel in Kirkuk, Iraq, which Lynn co-developed; her experience teaching veterans in her local community; as well as her many years of experience as a sensory integration certified occupational therapist and registered yoga instructor.
Continuing Education Information:
YACEP– All scheduled lead workshop presenters in 2020 (Anna, Jeff, Julie, Marika, and Lynn) are YACEPs, qualifying RYTs to receive 16 Yoga Alliance approved contact hours for the course. Please contact SEYI for current YACEP information for the presenter(s) of your workshop.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
Purchase of our new 296-page book, Sensory-Enhanced Yoga for Self-Regulation & Trauma Healing (Handspring Publishing) is required for this course (at 25% off the retail cost) and will be distributed to participants at the workshop location. If you already own the book, you will need to bring it to the workshop in order to be refunded the book cost that was added to the registration fee.
Please note: If you are both a licensed health professional and an RYT, please use the registration form for health professionals and list your RYT status under “other certifications”.
*Important Note: Asterisked workshops will be designed for both health professionals and RYTs and be held in a combined format. The course is listed separately for RYTs and health professionals in accordance with Yoga Alliance regulations which state that RYTs are not qualified to treat any medical condition. Therefore, the workshop title and learning objectives are modified accordingly for RYTs.
